How does MyPB work?
MyPB is a zero-based budgeting app where you assign every dollar of income to a specific category — spending, saving, or debt repayment. You create a budget, add your accounts, set up categories, and log transactions manually. The app tracks your spending against your plan and shows you exactly where your money goes. How do I create my first budget?
After signing up, click "New Budget" from the sidebar. Give your budget a name (e.g., "Personal" or "Household"), then add accounts (like "Everyday" or "Cash") and categories (like "Groceries", "Rent", "Savings"). You're ready to start assigning money and logging transactions.
Do I need to link my bank account?
No. MyPB never asks for your bank credentials. You enter transactions manually, which means your bank login details are never shared with anyone — not us, not a third-party aggregator, not anyone. This is a core part of our privacy-first approach.
Is there a mobile app?
MyPB is a web application that works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, or phone. The interface is fully responsive and optimised for mobile use. A dedicated mobile app may be developed in the future based on user demand.
Features
What is the Plan view?
The Plan view is where you assign your income to categories for the month. It shows your total income, how much you've assigned, and how much is left to assign. The goal is to reach zero — meaning every dollar has a purpose. You can adjust assignments at any time throughout the month.
How do category goals work?
Category goals let you set a monthly spending or saving target for each category. For example, you might set a $400 goal for Groceries. As you log transactions, MyPB shows how much you've spent versus your goal, so you always know where you stand.
Can I track multiple accounts?
Yes. You can create as many accounts as you need within a budget — transaction accounts, savings, cash, credit cards, or any other account type. Each transaction is tied to a specific account, and you can see balances across all accounts.
Can I share a budget with someone?
Yes. You can share budgets with both new and existing MyPB users. Choose the permission level — full access (can add and edit transactions) or read-only (can only view). For existing users, enter their email and the budget is shared instantly. For new users, an invitation link is generated for them to sign up. People who only access shared budgets (no budgets of their own) use MyPB for free.
What reports are available?
MyPB includes spending reports by category, income vs. expense summaries, monthly trend charts, and net worth tracking over time. Reports help you see the big picture and identify patterns in your spending.
Can I track my net worth?
Yes. The Assets & Liabilities feature lets you add items like property, investments, vehicles, student loans, or mortgages. MyPB calculates your net worth and tracks how it changes over time.
Privacy & Security
How is my data protected?
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, all connections use TLS encryption (HTTPS), sessions use HTTP-only secure cookies, and all database queries use parameterized statements. For full details, visit our Privacy & Security page.
Do you sell my data?
No. We never sell, share, or monetize your financial data. We don't use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data brokers. Our business model is simple: you pay for the product. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Can I delete my account and all my data?
Yes. You can request complete account deletion at any time. When your account is deleted, all personal data, budgets, transactions, and shared access are permanently removed. This action is irreversible.

Is MyPB really free?
Yes. During the early access period, all features are completely free with no limitations. Early adopters (the first 1,000 users) get 3 months free, after which they can continue at a locked-in rate of $3.99/month — guaranteed for life. Visit our Pricing page for full details.
Do I need to enter payment details to sign up?
No. Registration is completely free and requires no payment information. You'll receive at least 30 days' notice before any charges begin, and you can cancel at any time with no obligation.
How do I reset my password?
Click "Forgot password?" on the login page. Enter your email address and we'll send you a secure, time-limited reset link. The link can only be used once and expires after a short period for security.
Can I change my email address?
Yes. Go to your Profile page after logging in to update your name or email address.
